Life Just Gets In the Way - 6

"Park not vet....park not vet"  Dog 3 and my dog in the background

OK, so today was pretty rubbish on all fronts.  True Movies did NOT do it for me.  I'm up to date with Casualty and Holby City.  None of my strategies were working so I had to find some more!

And food-wise, it was more food on the hoof because I just could not be bothered to cook or prepare anything that required any mental effort.

Tonight's supper is jacket potato.  Again.  But I don't mind; it's a no brainer.  Again!

I really, really don't want to be the merchant of doom but that's exactly what seems to be happening right now.  This morning my mother visited the pet crematorium with Mr C, while I looked after the hounds.

This afternoon, I did some work-related phone calls and felt rubbish.  Really rubbish.

Tonight we went back to the vet with dog number 3 because we've found another lump.  My mother took presents for the vet and vet nurses because Mr C had been in their care when he was first diagnosed.  It was a thank you for all their hard work.  At the same time as Mr C staying in, my own dog was in the next cage waiting for her x-rays (which is a general anaesthetic job for hounds).  So they know my mother very well. And they know our pets even more.  Anyway, it was also my chance to meet the vet because normally we use my own vet closer to home.

I went because I needed to have that chat; you know the one - the 'tell me everything' chat.  And if I tell you that 'prepare for early next year' were some of the words used, I think you can guess the rest.

BUT but but...I want to and have to end on a positive note.  Dog number 3 has already had cancerous tumours removed from his mouth; apparently, these are the most aggressive tumours a dog can get.  It's the worst news.  The new lump means the cancer is now in the lymph nodes.  Yes, this is a tragic tale if you're an animal lover and there were tears throughout this consultation.

But here's the thing.  Dog number 3, the vet said, should not even be alive.  But he is.  And he really is still very much alive.  Tomorrow he goes for acupuncture!

"Everyday is a bonus and a blessing," said the vet, about dog number 3.  And that really is the mindset I need to start having.  Each day, every day.
